“The Public Media Commons offers creative engagement in a professional environment, drawing on WHYYs 50 years of production experience to help the community tell its own stories through digital media.”
WHYY Afterschool offers free hands-on training in documentary production, studio production and radio production for teens, grades 10-12. We run two 15-week semesters each year. Classes run M/W and T/Th from 4:00-6:00PM. WHYY Young Journalists Summer Camp and WHYY Film Academy are intensive summer production experiences for area teens. The after-school programs are free. Scholarships are available for summer camps.
The Dorrance H. Hamilton Public Media Commons
at WHYY puts the power of media in the hands of anyone with a story to tell and helps all of us become more discerning
media consumers. We serve youth through after-school video and audio production programs, journalism and film production summer camps, hands-on field trips, and indirectly through teacher professional development.
