The WHYY Youth Media Awards honors the best media produced by youth in grades 6-12 in the Philadelphia region. This year, WHYY received over 165 entries from students in grades 6-12 in five categories: documentary, narrative, new report, open, and middle school. The screening took place on October 13th, and all of the finalists’ videos are now available online!
The various approaches included stylized noir, lego animation, playful adaptations, informative documentaries and whimsical narratives… to name a few!
One film won both the Judges Award as well as
the Thomas Scattergood Behavioral Health Award, in addition to the High School Documentary Award- leaving Maurice to carry home 3 trophies for his heart breaking, inspirational story, Grown Up to Growing Up:
