PYMC will have a short piece of media produced and shot by youth to promote the importance and diversity of youth media!
Read details of BPA’s proposal below:
For the PYMC Project Stipend, Big Picture Alliance is proposing to create a 2-3 minute commercial for the Philadelphia Youth Media Collaborative that promotes the diverse activities of PYMC and the importance of youth media as defined by youth themselves. The video will be conceptualized and created through a collaboration between a media instructor and two youth from the Big Picture Alliance and PYMC Youth Council. The project will serve as a professional production experience for youth and will also serve as promotional material for Philadelphia Youth Media Collaborative. The full-circle of this project is powerful. Youth will make the media that allows them to keep making media. Included in the final deliverables will be behind-the-scenes looks of all stages of production in the form of mini-videos, photos, and /or blog posts for PYMC. The video will be shared on the PYMC website and screened at an outside
Spring Event. Once posted, there could be a social media component calling for public feedback and video reflections. Therefore this video could act as a spark for a larger conversation on youth media nation-wide.
