PEC Summer Programs

July 18, 2013 by CDIT in Members

463School may be out for the summer,

but the PEC CDIT technology academy is still in full swing! During the months of July and August, we have three programs serving youth ages 3-18.

Our Young Explorer’s Lab, outfitted with specially designed Little Tykes computers, provides technology training for children ages 3-7. Instructors work with children from Montgomery Early Learning Center, Belmont Charter Academy, and Community Preschool and Nursery.

Although our traditional Tech St@rs class is not being offered this summer, we are collaborating with the ACE program at

Martha Washington to provide a modified version of the curriculum. Elementary school students work with an instructor one day a week at the Men of Mill Creek lab to increase their computer literacy skills.

Because our spring session of Teen Technology Network was so successful, several of the students from the course have been invited to intern with instructor Nathan Karuna this summer. The students will continue to hone their video production and editing skills learned during TTN.

We will begin our full slate of programs for the fall in September. Stay tuned for more information!
