For Frank Dmarh, the free community computer classes at PEC gave him a new perspective on life.
Considering himself to be part of a dinosaur generation, Dmarh admitted that he didnt know anything about computers before enrolling.
The days of filling out paper applications are over, says Dmarh who is 54 years old. More jobs are asking for online applications and resumes.” Like many other
users, Dmarh has found the computer to be an instrument of convenience. I am now able to pay my bills online, meet new people, conduct basic research; it really saves me money and time, he added.
Before he had to find someone to create his resume and cover letter; now he is able to efficiently navigate Microsoft Word and Excel to perform his own tasks.
He uses his computer skills to create flyers and process applications for the Boy Scouts of America, where he volunteers. Overall, Dmarh sees the free computer classes offered at PEC as a big help to the community, which is why he chose to stay and help out with new classes after he graduated. So many
people are left behind, he said. For anyone seeking to learn computer skills, Dmarh offeres a little advice. Stick to the program, do your assignments given by the instructor, never give up, and you too can achieve many things.
